Alliance Boots DC – Letchworth

Scope

Llumarlite were invited to assess the existing lighting installation at the regional distribution centre in Letchworth. Key criteria for the project were to reduce energy and carbon emission, improve Lux levels, increase uniformity, improve access in order to maintain the lighting & decrease maintenance costs.
The site currently operates 17 hours per day 7 days per week.

Overview

  • All low level luminaires now T8 dimmable fluorescent (better Lumen per Watt package).
  • High level luminaires use dimmable T5 fluorescent lamps with High Output reflectors.
  • Luminaires harvest natural light and dim to maintain the pre-set Lux level.
  • All luminaires linked to adjustable PIR to turn off when no activity is detected.
  • 3 hour emergency self-test units incorporated into new luminaires.
  • High level luminaires lowered and re-aligned to a more maintainable height.
  • Long-life lamps installed increases time between routine maintenance.
  • External lighting re-lamped and re positioned to provide better coverage and security.

Savings

  • 29,800 KWh savings per annum.
  • Return on Investment within 3 Years.
  • Lamp life increased by 75% to 40,000 hours.
  • Scheme complies with CIBSE and BS5266 standards.
  • Controllable lighting scheme provides future proofing should the building layout change.
