Tesco
Sales Floor Dimming
- Removal of existing fixed output lighting and upgrade to dimmable lighting with control at Tesco Abertillery.

- Existing twin 70W fittings replaced with twin 35W fittings with digital dimming ballast.
- Shop floor lighting programmed to be dimmed
at two settings:
Day trading – 63.7%
Store closed – 34.8%
- Due to security considerations the store closed lighting level was set at a level to allow the CCTV to still clearly operate.
- The front two rows of lighting adjacent to the shop windows were daylight linked.
- The shop floor light fittings were all suspended at the same height of 4.4 metres – therefore no longer lighting the ceiling space and a more efficient use of the light.

Pre Dimming – 1300 lux

Post Dimming – 900 lux (day), 600 lux (night)
With the approval of the store manager, the following works were also carried out to further reduce the stores lighting load:
- Removed all shop floor spotlights.
- The lighting under wall mounted department signs were disconnected and the lighting tracks removed.
- Installed time clocks to turn off the following lights when the store was closed:
- Toilet lobby lights
- Cigarette kiosk – spots lights and 9 x twin 70W lamps
- Store entrance lobby lights
- Fruit and vegetable department lighting
