Scope

Llumarlite were commissioned to upgrade the lighting to current design standards, improve lamp and Luminaire maintenance and reduce energy consumption.

The existing lighting installation dated back to the mid 1970′s and used magnetic switch start control gear with mainly 125w T12 lamps.

There was a design requirement to encapsulate the lamps to avoid glass contamination in the event of a breakage.

Overview

  • Llumarlite installed over 5500 T5 IP65 luminaires complete with special Hi Output reflectors
  • PIR sensors were fitted on a one for four basis to turn lights off when no presence was detected
  • Special Aisle sensors were used to avoid nuciance tripping
  • Daylight dimmable luminaires were installed on the top floor – Approx one third of the luminaires
  • 100 Lux was achieved at floor level @ 0.85 uniformity
  • GE Long-Life lamps were used to aid maintenance. ( Approx 40,000 Hours )

Savings

  • Annual Savings of 450,000 Kw/h
  • Site consumption dropped from 949 Amps to approx 300 Amps
  • Colour rendering improved to RA 90, enhanced visual appearance using colour 840 lamps
  • Increased lamp life by 60%
  • All Lamps now enclosed and safe for use in a child friendly environment
  • Additional benefits of Reduced HVAC load and Compliance to latest regulations within CIBSE
