The visual environment for display screen use

LG3:2001 is the latest development in a design guide that has been in use by the lighting industry for some years. It has evolved over time to take into account increasing familiarity with the lighting techiniques available for use in areas where display screens are in use.

The guide covers areas such as:

• direct light luminance calculations
• luminance limit calculations
• recommendations for direct lighting
• use of materials

The luminance limits defined in LG3 are being revised to bring them in line with new European Standards. This will avoid possible confusion and help in standardising luminaire production in Europe.
